Babywearing is one of the greatest time-savers (and sanity savers) a mom can have!

Babywearing is exactly what it sounds like! You keep your child close to you as you do your daily activities by wearing them in a baby carrier. Not only does babywearing provide you both hands to use, it has tons of benefits as well such as bonding, breastfeeding support, and helps combat postpartum depression in some new moms (Babywearing International).

The variety of baby carriers available can be pretty overwhelming for a beginner! Some of the most common carriers are wraps, mei tais, ring slings, and soft-structured carriers (or buckle carriers).

Babywearing is completely different for every person. Budget and carrier preferences play a huge role in the carriers you choose to get. There are many babywearing “swap” groups where other moms and dads choose to buy, sell, or trade their carriers with other parents. You can also find local babywearing chapters to join. They have more resources about carriers and babywearing in general. Shop for Tula here.

tula reviewI tried a lot of different baby carriers before I got a Tula. A Tula is considered a soft-structured carrier. Tulas start around $150 and go up to $1000 based on the “add-ons” people choose. I didn’t do any add-ons to mine, and we love it! I like it because it is super simple, just ‘click’ & ‘click’ and the baby is in. I didn’t like fussing with tons of fabric so wraps were out of the question for me. I tried Boba, Mei-Tai, Infantino. They just weren’t for us and our babywearing journey! Tula is definitely our favorite. Shop on Amazon for a Tula.

Why I love my Tula:

  • Easy to “click” into place.
  • Comfortable on my back.
  • The only carrier my husband feels comfortable wearing.
  • I am petite, and I can wrap it tightly and she still feels secure.
  • We did front carry, kangaroo cary, for the first 10 months, then switched to mostly carrying on my back. It took me a while to get the hang of carrying on my back and securing her myself, but we figured it out with some simply youtubes!
  • I can get tasks done around the house without Bella complaining or whining.
  • We bond, have fun, laugh, sing and dance when we are in our Tula.
  • We are always out and about, she comes with me easily to places where a stroller is just a nuisance.

tula reviewI recommend finding a local babywearing meet-up in your area where you can try out different carriers to see what works for you! You will be able to find what is most comfortable for you and baby. Comfort for you and baby is SO important!
